Morris Area Freewheelers Foundation > About

The Morris Area Freewheelers Foundation is an all-volunteer group dedicated to safe cycling for fitness, fun, touring and transportation. We are a non-profit tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization.

We work to educate cyclists and motorists alike about their responsibilities through event rides, cooperative projects with local police departments and emergency squads, and other educational programs.

Many national groups share our goals, but our focus is on educating those riding and sharing the roads, paths and trails of the Northwest NJ area.

We are the charitable foundation extension of the Morris Area Freewheelers Bicycle Club, one of NJ’s largest.

The Morris Area Freewheelers Foundation has already made an impact in the area through our initial educational event and activity, The Revolutionary Ramble Bicycle Tour. Every rider receives detailed safety information when they register and hears a pre-ride safety talk. After the Tour, they can also learn more about what to do in an emergency and about the assistance available to them from local all-volunteer emergency squads, if they should have an accident. Over the past nearly 12 years, we have donated more than $100,000 to the All Volunteer Ambulance Squads across northern New Jersey, NJ-chapter of NICA, TransOptions and the World Bicycle Relief. Despite our inability to hold the event in 2020, we continued our tradition as a charitable organization by donating $10,000 to the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County, a provider of food and resources to families in need.
